A new mystery player every day. How many guesses do you need?
Guess the Player is a daily basketball guessing game inspired by Wordle. Each day, a new mystery NBA player is selected using a date-based algorithm, ensuring every visitor gets the same player. Your goal is to identify the player in as few guesses as possible using clues from each attempt. After each guess, the game reveals whether your pick matches the mystery player's team, position, and age, with color-coded feedback showing exact matches, close matches, and misses.
Green means an exact match, gold means you are close (within 2 years for age), and red means no match. After two wrong guesses, the player's position is revealed. Four wrong guesses unlock the conference, and six reveal the age. These progressive hints ensure everyone can eventually solve the puzzle while rewarding deep NBA knowledge with faster solves.
Start with a well-known player to establish baseline clues about team, position, and age range. If the team does not match, try a player from a different conference. Use the age clue to narrow down veterans versus young stars. Once you have the position and conference locked, you should be able to identify the player within a few more guesses.
Yes. The player is determined by the current date, so everyone playing on the same day gets the same mystery player. Come back tomorrow for a new challenge.
There is no guess limit. You can keep guessing until you find the correct player. However, the challenge is to do it in as few guesses as possible.
The mystery player is selected from CourtVision's database of active NBA players for the current season, which includes the top players from all 30 teams.
