The Team Builder lets you construct an NBA roster from scratch while staying mindful of salary cap constraints. Fill 5 starting positions and 3 bench spots, and watch the salary meter update in real time. Each player's estimated salary is calculated based on their statistical production and age.
The salary cap is set at $140.6M with the luxury tax threshold at $170.8M. Green means you're under the cap, yellow means you're over the cap but under the tax, and red means you're in luxury tax territory. Team totals update as you add players so you can see the combined firepower of your lineup.
Salaries are estimated using a formula that weights scoring, rebounding, assists, steals, blocks, and shooting efficiency, then adjusts for age. Younger players command higher salaries based on future potential.
Starting positions are restricted to players at that position (PG, SG, SF, PF, C). Bench spots accept any position, giving you flexibility to build your bench how you want.
In the real NBA, teams can exceed the cap using exceptions and Bird rights. This tool tracks your total against both the cap and luxury tax line, but doesn't prevent you from going over -- just like in reality.
